Frontiering practice of geographies: the intersections and imagination of physical and human geographies

Frontier is an ‘innovation’ in geographic practice that crosses time and space, as well as a ‘border’ that is extremely limited by space and time. Geography concerns about the interaction between human and the environment; however, the excessive division of labour in academic majors of geographies makes nature and humanities fault at the boundary of innovative geography, and the frontiering geographical imagination falls. The aim of this conference is to explore how to critically cross geographies and to frontier the geographical practice. The interaction between physical and human geographies in nature, culture, material and society is therefore investigated. This conference is trying to present geography that the world is more than just human achievement, rethinking the relationship between humans and non-humans, societies and material, and recreating how they are closely linked in differences.

At the outbreak of pandemic, the anthropocene and climate change, we initiate the geographical practice of sustainable development goals, ecosystem services, geoparks and ecosystem restoration, and on the other hand, provide information through the work of political ecology, adaptation and resilience, feminist theory, environmental ethics and scientific research. We bring together with examining detailed cases studies, theoretical materials, and discuss the practice of geographies. Thus, the main theme of the 26th International Geographical Conference of Taiwan (IGCT 2022) is “Frontiering practice of geographies: the intersections and imagination of physical and human geographies”, and the main subjects of interests as follow. The IGCT 2022 invites scholars, experts and graduate students in the fields of geography, humanities, nature and spatial information to discuss the fronitering practice of geographies. Try to stitch up fault lines in human/non-human relationships, as well as in physical and human spatial organizations.
