The 27th International Geographical Conference of Taiwan

Digital Twins – A Metaverse for Geographers

The International Geographical Conference of Taiwan (IGCT) is a geographical knowledge feast held by the Department of Geography, National Taiwan Normal University. It is a great opportunity to share results of your geographic research with international scholars, experts, government agencies, social societies and relevant industry people. This conference has been held annually since 1997 with no interruption, even during the global pandemic. The 27th conference will held in the National Taiwan Normal University on 13th and 14th May, 2023.

The interaction of human and space has been the major concern of geographers. The maps used for geographical studies are actually the twins of the world. With the rapid development of information technologies, analogue map sheets turn into digital bits, layers turn into spatial feature database, two-dimensional plan turns into multi-dimensional space. Digital twins realize the geographers’ space with much more details. Geographers may observe, analyze, plan, educate, make a tour or even interact with each other in digital twins. It is a metaverse for geographers. This is the reason why we propose this conference’s subject as, “Digital Twins – A Metaverse for Geographers”. We hope people who care about Geography and Taiwan come and join us, share your recent research, and build a geographers’ metaverse together.
