【Background of the Scholarship】
Professor Chen Kuo-Chang, motivated by his deep appreciation for the land of Taiwan, devoted himself to the study of Taiwanese toponymy beginning in 1981. Over the years, he dedicated himself to researching and documenting Taiwanese place names, collecting their pronunciations, and applying linguistic principles in the hope of developing a new direction for the study of Taiwan’s linguistic geography.
To recognize and support outstanding students in the Department of Geography, Professor Chen established this scholarship.
【Eligibility】
Master’s and doctoral students in the Department of Geography.
【Number of Recipients and Award Amount】
One recipient will be selected each academic year.
The scholarship amount is NT$10,000 per recipient.
【Eligibility Requirements】
- The applicant must be a currently enrolled master’s or doctoral student in the Department of Geography and must have achieved an academic average of 80 or above (GPA 3.38 or above) in the previous semester. Applicants who did not take any courses in the previous semester must submit their academic transcripts from previous years. (Academic records will be automatically imported by the scholarship system.)
- The applicant must demonstrate outstanding academic performance.
- The applicant must not have received any other scholarship during the current academic year.

Applications are accepted from now until September 24, 2026.
【Application Procedure】
- Please upload the application form to the University’s Scholarship Application System. After signing the application form, applicants must combine it with all supporting documents into a single PDF file and upload the file to the system.
