Chi Po-lin Foundation Digital Archive department will host a winter internship from December 28, 2026 – February 19, 2027. Internship applications are now open to students. Please see the following for application details.
Objectives
- Provide students with practical workplace experience in non-profit organizations and environmental advocacy.
- Develop foundational skills in aerial image metadata creation, digital asset management, and landscape identification methods.
- Gain a deeper understanding of Taiwan’s landscape changes, historical geographical evolution, and valuable cultural heritage through digital archiving work.

Digital Archive Intern (3 positions available)

6F, No. 126, Yumin 6th Rd., Beitou District, Taipei City (Near MRT Shipai Station)
Internship Period
- Period: December 28, 2026 – February 19, 2027 (Adjustable based on university winter break schedules)
Mon–Fri: 10:00 AM – 6:00 PM (Lunch break: 12:30–13:30)

Key Responsibilities
Image Metadata Creation: Build metadata for the foundation’s digital archives, which include 100,000 selected films, over 500,000 digital photos, and nearly 1,000 hours of video footage. Systematically organize records by cataloging attributes such as date, administrative district, landscape information, and coordinates. Learn landscape identification methods, digital map applications, and archive management skills.
Qualifications
Interest in image processing and a passion for learning more about Taiwan’s landscapes. Preferred qualifications include:
- Proficiency with Google Maps, Google Earth, and OpenStreetMap.
- Background in environmental ecology, or a strong interest in Taiwan’s environmental issues and landscape preservation.
- Familiarity with Microsoft Word and Excel.
Training Program
- Digital Archive: Current status, future roadmap, background, process, and goals of the Aerial Photography Database project iTaiwan8.
- Aerial Image Identification: Keyword tagging techniques, e-map usage, GPS coordinate retrieval, landscape identification, and hands-on practice.
- Film Archives: Overview of film formats, film imaging principles, digitization workflows, and trial runs.
